Trading the 8th Ave Honkstorm for The Hallelujah Sea Lion Chorus

I spent the fall in California casting five bronze sculptures, commuting to the foundry on a rusty old cruiser. Instead of being startled awake by an alarming Eighth Avenue honkstorm, I woke to the harmonious sound of 300 zalophus californianus attending choir practice under the Boardwalk. After sunset, amped-up pajama-clad, post-punk-neo-fusion-funk-rock buskers provided spirited exit music for the breezy ride home through downtown Santa Cruz…
