Introducing INSPIRATION 2012: Sterling Silver-Onyx Bracelet by Dave Stevenson

Dave Stevenson has updated his popular Inspiration cuff, originally created in 2007 to raise money for Parkinson’s Unity Walk. This striking re-design incorporates black onyx to offset the subtle curves of Stevenson’s iconic silver sculpture.

Why onyx? Recognized since ancient times as a balancing and grounding gemstone, onyx symbolizes determination and self-mastery. In the years since the bracelet was first commissioned by Marlene Kahan, proceeds from sales have raised more than $20,000.00. Kahan, a personal friend of the artist, was diagnosed with Early-Onset Parkinson’s seven years ago.

I-2012 (Women’s): $175.00 (blackened sterling silver, 8mm onyx beads, elastic cord, 7 inch length)

I-2012 (Men’s): $205.00 (blackened sterling silver, 10mm onyx beads, elastic cord, 8.25 inch length)

Order today at: www.artinjection.com/parkinsons.htm. Proceeds benefit Parkinson’s Unity Walk, a non-profit organization that directs 100% of donations towards research to find a cure for Parkinson’s Disease. For more information, call or email Dave Stevenson: dave@artinjection.com; 212.380.6855.

Stevenson’s jewelry has appeared on the VH1 Classic, Fuse, ABC and Fine Living television networks. People, Seventeen, Redbook, Lucky, Harper’s Bazaar, Town and Country, AARP, Self, and St. Barth Weekly magazines have all featured his work. Stevenson’s sculptures can be seen in the New York City headquarters of Pfizer Inc., the office of film director James Cameron, and in private collections across the States and abroad. In 2011 the artist was awarded a Creative Grant from the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance. A graduate of The College of William and Mary, Stevenson is represented by Les Artisans in Saint-Barthélemy, F.W.I., and Old Main Gallery in Bozeman, MT. The artist currently resides in Manhattan.

This prehistoric companion is as comfortable sunning on the beach as he is clawing at the sleeve of your leather jacket. Dramatic black onyx and jasper beads encircle the sterling silver reptile. Inspired by millions of years of evolution, Iguanyx is the natural selection for versatile wristwear.

Iguanyx for Women: $205.00

Since 1998, Stevenson has made an annual pilgrimage to Saint-Barthélemy, F.W.I. to exhibit his abstract bronze sculptures and jewelry collection. More than once he has watched helplessly as a brazen local iguana snatched a delicious breakfast croissant from his plate. Stevenson retains a healthy respect for all crafty reptiles and human pastry chefs.

Stevenson’s sculptures can be seen in the New York City headquarters of Pfizer Inc., the Los Angeles office of film director James Cameron, and in private collections across the States and abroad. In 2011, the artist was awarded a creative grant for visual art from the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance.
My Girlfriend’s home! This week I have been restoring a favorite old sculpture by fixing cracks incurred compliments of airline conveyor belt efficiency. As I lovingly flay her skin and drill down to the bone to prepare for surgery, each peeled-back paint layer evokes a distinct memory. Orange? Boston: I remember my cousin/band-mate Cliff walking into my studio (the band shared a house) and observing my new sculpture for the first time. As I explained that it was my first decidedly circular sculpture, more curvaceous than anything else in my budding portfolio at the time, he looked at me with his signature wry smile loaded with portent and said; “Well you know Dave, curves are female.” Girlfriend was also my first work to expose a wire armature—linear elements that can be found in the majority of sculptures I have created since. And, I still create with subtle, unconscious references to the female figure. Orange inspired the first title, Happy Sunny Day. When I moved to Santa Cruz, CA the following year I repainted it green and christened it Girlfriend. Girlfriend is the first sculpture I molded and cast into bronze in fact. She was cherry red before casting. After cleaning off the residue left behind by the silicon molding process, I painted her red again. Before moving to New York I applied titanium-metallic, a Jaguar car paint…but that’s another story. What’s with your indecisive painting style, Dave? All I can say is; now what color!?!?!
